Northwest Trail Alliance Seeks Development Manager

Northwest Trail Alliance (NWTA) is seeking a Development Manager to establish a robust and stable funding platform, and to mobilize our membership and the larger mountain biking community. The person filling this position will have an exciting responsibility increasing the capacity of the organization by capturing the energy and enthusiasm of our region’s mountain bikers. The right person will also have the opportunity to grow this role into a director-level position.

About this Position
Primary duties will include:

Fundraising – Develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy to be initiated within the first two months. Identify, refine and execute opportunities for fundraising through events, membership drives, sponsorships, partnerships, and grants. Develop and maintain our donor list, coordinate donor asks, and organize and oversee fundraising events involving business partners and member volunteers.

Membership Development – Develop and implement a program for member recruitment that will increase overall membership numbers, engagement and camaraderie. This includes volunteer coordination for events, trail builds, and other activities.

Communications – Work with the Board to increase organizational exposure, and mobilize our membership and partners to create, enhance, and protect mountain bike riding opportunities.

The ideal candidate will be dynamic, self-directed, and multi-talented, with the desire and skills to help grow the organization by working with the Board of Directors, our members, and our business and public partners. Those candidates best qualified for the position will have:

A personable, approachable, and engaging personality;
Experience fundraising for non-profit organizations including soliciting sponsorships, event coordination, and grant writing;
The ability to engage, motivate and organize volunteers;
A passion for biking and creating additional off-road biking opportunities in our area;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Experience with media relations; and
Experience with social media.

Desirable qualities include:

A bachelors level education from an accredited institution;
At least two years professional work experience in the non-profit sector, or a combination of experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities outlined above;
Involvement and/or experience with the local cycling culture/industry; and
Basic experience with design software and creation of print collateral.

Northwest Trail Alliance (NWTA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and a chapter of the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA). Formed in 1988 as the Portland United Mountain Pedalers (PUMP), the group rebranded in 2009 to become Northwest Trail Alliance.

NWTA is an alliance of mountain bikers and off-road cyclists dedicated to creating, enhancing and protecting riding opportunities in NW Oregon and SW Washington.
