The Portland Art Museum has added yet another great program to their Cyclepedia: Iconic Bicycle Design exhibition.
“An Evening with Greg Lemond” will be held on August 14th at 7:00 pm. According to Beth Heinrich, the museum’s public relations director, Lemond — who they introduce as, “a former professional cyclist, entrepreneur, and anti-doping advocate” — will share his experiences, “as a world champion racer and bike designer.” Lemond will be on stage and interviewed by Michelle Poyourow, a former advocate with the Bicycle Transportation Alliance who left that organization in February 2010.
Lemond, now 52, is a major U.S. hero for his overall victory at the 1986 Tour de France. With recent disqualifications of Lance Armstrong and Floyd Landis, he now remains the only American to ever win cycling’s most prestigious race. Lemond paid a visit to Portland back in September 2011, where he entertained a large crowd during an informal event and Q & A at West End Bikes.
The event is free with museum admission ($15) and those interested in attending are encouraged to reserve seats in advance online.
