TRAFFIC ADVISORY:
Bicycle, bus traffic to be detoured in Rose Quarter
Mon. to Wed. for NE Wheeler Ave road maintenance

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Bureau of Transportation advises the traveling public that street maintenance will require the closure of a heavily traveled bicycle route in the Rose Quarter, Monday June 10 through Wednesday June 12.

A one-block section of NE Wheeler Avenue will be closed between the MAX light rail tracks and N Interstate Avenue. The closure will block all bus and bicycle traffic on the street. Automobile traffic is not allowed on the one-block section where the work will occur.

Though short, the site is on one of the busiest bike routes in Portland, carrying thousands of bicyclists a day. Cyclists are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes if possible, including the Broadway Bridge. Signs at the site will direct cyclists to use nearby sidewalks to get around the work area.

The public is also advised to travel cautiously, observe all lane closures and directions by flaggers, and use alternate routes if possible.

This work is weather-dependent, and the schedule may change.
