OVERVIEW
Established bike tour company is seeking Bike Tour Guides to support its self-guided bike trips in Oregon. The role will be suited to cyclists with guiding or strong customer service experience residing in the Portland area.
BACKGROUND
LifeCycle Adventures is a Portland-based bike tour company with ten years of experience running self-guided bike trips in California, Oregon and Hawaii. We are currently looking for guides for our self-guided trips in Oregon. Our Oregon self-guided trips can be anything from 3 to 8 days and are operated in the Willamette Valley and the Hood River/Columbia River area.
THE WORK
The work has three main components:
1. Meeting guests in Portland, transferring them to the start of their ride, giving them a ride briefing and setting them up with their bikes.
2. Moving luggage between accommodations as guests ride the same route. We’re available for support for guests as requested.
3. Meeting guests at the end of their trips and transferring them back into Portland.
All of our self-guided trips operate out of our facility in SE Portland and guides return to Portland each night – i.e. there is no requirement for overnight stays.
This is not a full time role, but rather it is as and when-needed based on sold trips. As such, the guides must have the flexibility to be able to support a part-time and unpredictable workload focused on the summer months.
REQUIREMENTS
Successful candidates will have the following characteristics:
– Excellent hosting skills with a high standard of professionalism & customer service.
– Well organized with sharp attention to detail.
– Prior bike guiding or related experience.
– Knowledge of local history, culture, and geography.
– Enthusiastic cyclist & capable bike mechanic.
– Capable of lifting bikes and luggage.
– Clean driving record, Oregon driving license and clean background check.
– Current First Aid/CPR Certificate.
– Reasonable availability to lead trips during peak seasons.
