Here’s a little photo essay from my first day here at the National Bike Summit…
With spring temps in the high 70s, biking is in bloom here on the streets of D.C.:
Women responded in a big way to the first annual National Women Cycling Forum. A line stretched down the hall to get in and nearly all the seats were full inside:
No revolution ever happened without a button:
The Tim Johnson Ride on Washington rolled down Pennsylvania Ave, one of D.C.’s most historic streets, en route to a celebration at the Capitol Reflecting Pool (And yes, this is taken from a taxi. Sorry! It was either that or miss seeing this altogether):
I could see this ride becoming a major annual event (I think I’ll plan on joining in next year):
Have I mentioned that the weather here has been splendid?
Using the Capital Bikeshare system has been a real treat. It works just as advertised:
Chris Distefano, the communications director at Rapha (notice the trousers) here to represent Oregon bike business, also tried bike share for the first time (and liked it):
BTA Advocacy Director Gerik Kransky getting some business done outside the Grand Hyatt (Summit headquarters):
It’s a record crowd here at the Summit, with over 800 people from 49 states (darn you Alaska!) in attendance:
Stay tuned! There’s a full day of action on tap…
