PBOT’s “Fall/Winter Storm Season Preparedness” News Conference
PBOT welcomes El Nina. “Community partners will join PBOT Director Tom Miller to review fall and winter storm season preparedness plans and advisories to the public.” 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Transportation Maintenance Operations, Stanton Yard facility (2929 North Kerby).
N Williams Ave. Project Technical Work Session
While this is a committee work-session, the public is welcome. Committee members will learn more about Portland’s active transportation story and will be debriefed on N Williams traffic engineering issues. (If this sounds like a repeat, it sort of is. This is the result of PBOT’s restart of the project after adding many new committee members in light of concerns about racial equity.) Noon to 2:00 pm at Oregon Red Cross, 3131 N Vancouver Ave, Room TBD. More info.
Portland Bicycle Advisory Committee meeting
Monthly meeting of the PBAC, a citizen-led group that advises PBOT. From 6 to 8 pm at Lovejoy Room in Portland City Hall. On the agenda tonight is an overview of the East Portland in Motion project, an update on how bicycling is referred to in the Portland Plan, and a discussion about which projects PBOT should nominate for a round of ODOT flexible funds. Check the PBAC web page for more info.

CRC EIS “Drop-In Session,” – Vancouver (Portland event details below)
The Columbia River Crossing project has released its Final
Environmental Impact Statement. This is a comprehensive assessment of the environmental impacts, in a broad range of areas, including wildlife, habitat, historic properties, businesses, transportation (including bikeways) air and water quality, and others. It’s a 2-volume document, nearly 1,000 pages long. We have 30 days to review it, starting Sept
28.
You can review it, with posters and staff, at a “Drop-In Session” at the Vancouver Public Library, expect a large conference room with people mingling. In 2008 there were about 100 people at each session, and lots of smiling staff that assured attendees that everything would be A-OK.
For homework, you can peruse the FEIS online. The drop-in session is from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at 901 C St. Vancouver, WA 98660. You can also send your comments to feedback@columbiarivercross.org.

CRC EIS “Drop-In Session”
This is the Portland session. It’s in the Jantzen Beach Mall on Hayden Island, about 1 mile from downtown Vancouver and 9 miles from downtown Portland. The easiest way there (besides driving) is to grab the #6 bus on MLK, it’s fast and direct to Jantzen Beach Mall.
2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Jantzen Beach SuperCenter Community Room (inside the mall, probably near the Merry-Go-Round), Jantzen Beach Center, Portland, OR

Seminar: “Gasless and Cashless take a Toll”
PSU Transportation Seminar: “Gasless and Cashless take a Toll”: Sustainable and Non-Stop Mobility through User Fees. While the political feasibility of increasing gas taxes is harder and harder, the technological feasibility of use fees is better and better. How can we use this to create palatable, effective pricing to ease congestion?
