BikeCraft 2011: Dates, venue set and a big announcement

Check out the new BikeCraft website.

BikeCraft is getting bigger and better this year in more ways than one.

But before I announce the dates and venue (scroll down if you can’t wait), I want to let you all know that I’ve officially handed over the event to someone else.

Since that magical snow night in January 2005, BikeCraft has had a special place in my heart. It still does; but this year, with some recent staffing changes (as in, I’m working solo at the moment), there was no way I could pull it all together.

That’s when Aaron Kaffen and Amos Hunter stepped in. These two have exciting plans for BikeCraft, plans that I’ve dreamed about since Day One but have never seen through. Aaron and Amos share my ultimate goal, which is to see bike-inspired makers thrive and to share their creations with as many people as possible.

It’s bittersweet to pass on an event I love; but I know it’s in good hands.

With that out of the way (sniff, sniff)… I’m excited to announced that BikeCraft will happen on December 3rd and 4th from 11-6 at Sandbox Studio (420 NE 9th).

That’s two full days of merriment, friends, and handmade bike goods and it all happens at the same gorgeous venue where we held the hugely successful BikeCraft 2009.

BikeCraft is open to artisans and makers who create bike-themed arts, crafts, accessories, and other cool stuff. If you’re a past vendor or would like a spot at this year’s event, please fill out the vendor application.

If you’re a business owner, and would like to be part of BikeCraft 2011, there are some great sponsorship opportunities still available.

To get an idea of how on it Aaron and Amos are, check out the awesome new BikeCraftPDX website they’ve already put together.

Stay tuned for vendor profiles and more announcements about BikeCraft 2011. And of course, please spread the word to your friends and co-workers!
