11:00am Get on the Schwinn to Win!
Meet at Project Grow, 2156 N Williams Ave
Let’s enjoy a leisurely ride around the Boise-Eliot neighborhood on our Schwinns. Ride all ages, we may take a pit stop to the GC (Grand Central Bakery) to grab some hot cocoa. Mmm Mmm. 3:00pm SE Solar Home Tour
Meet at Ladd Circle, 1600 SE Harrison St
An introduction to solar by bike. Take a short tour around inner SE Portland to view a variety of solar installations to learn how these systems save money and the environment. You’ll get to tour one home with a solar electric installation and perhaps another with a solar water heating system. Optional: We may head down to the Lucky Lab (site of a large solar water heating installation) for post-ride drinks and conversation.
5:00pm Bike to Skate Potluck
Meet at Vera Katz statue (East Bank Esplanade, under Hawthorne Bridge)
Family friendly Bike to Skate, kids welcome! Bring a potluck item to share in the park by the river. There will be free skating lessons available. $5
6:00pm Folkwater; Exploration of Johnson Creek
Meet at I-205 Bike Path at Springwater Corridor
Join us on the path of Portland’s only free flowing creek. We’re stalking the creek by bicycle. The Johnson will revel to us it’s roots in basalt and beaver. Folkwater is a project to get people talking about the past present and future of our waterways. Water sampling, artful foraging, storytelling, historical reenacting, panning for gold- the possibilities are limitless. Flat terrain and easy riding; learning from folks along the water.
6:00pm Mount the Butte Ride
Meet at Hawthorne food pod, SE 12th and Hawthorne
Join Team Slow for a jaunt out to some east side hills. We’ll mount Kelly Butte and peek at its old sealed-up Civil Defense Center, then southward to climb Mount Scott. No one left behind, spandex not necessary, but wear your climbing legs!
6:00pm The Sandlot Ride
Meet at Portland Pedalworks, 345 NW Everett St
D.I.Y. For America’s Pastime! Haven’t played baseball since high school? What about little league? Do you miss the crack of the bat, the throw to first, the outfield catch? Come out and play! All skill levels are encouraged. You just might be surprised at how quickly the game comes back to you: in a way it’s like riding a bicycle! We’ll take a short ride from Pedalworks to a nearby sandlot for some good old baseball. Bring your glove, your bat, and some cleats. CATCHERS WANTED! Email or text if you’ve got some catching gear in your back closet begging to be used again.
6:30pm Yehuda Moon Ride
Meet at Lucky Lab, 915 SE Hawthorne
Dress up like your favorite Kickstand Cyclery character, get out your rando or Dutch bike (Yehuda), your cargo bike (Thistle/Fizz), or your racing bike (Joe)- or whatever bike you want to ride- and come ride with us! Will start and end at the SE Lucky Lab. Prize for best Yehuda, Joe, Thistle, and Fizz costumes!
6:30pm Shop By Bike class
Meet at Peninsula Park Community Center, 700 N Rosa Parks Way
Do you ever take the car because you have too much to carry on a bike? Come find out how to conveniently transport groceries, packages, and kids with your bicycle. 7:00pm Unicycle Basketball
Meet at Sewallcrest Park, SE 31st Ave and Stephens
Come watch or join a weekly pickup game of unicycle basketball! This fast-paced sport has a rich 45-year history, and is played around the world. The goal is to have fun, learn the basics of the game, and ride around until someone sinks a basket. Feel free just to come and practice riding a unicycle if that’s where you’re at!
7:00pm Bikes for Humanity Volunteer Repair Clinics
Meet at Community Exchange Bike School, 4038 SE Brooklyn St
Bikes For Humanity (B4H) is a community service project aimed at providing the public affordable refurbished bikes, repair classes & workshop space. We have 100+ donated used bikes & need volunteers to catalog, clean and refurbish the bikes for a bike adoption event in July.
9:00pm Solstice Ride
Meet at People’s Food Co-op, 3029 SE 21st
Celebrate the shortest night of the year on your bike with friendly faces. We ride all night, and there will be hills. Charge your batteries and bring your comfiest ride! Sunrise will be at 5:21am, and the ride will end at a nice spot to catch it.
11:00pm Rooftop Ride!
Meet at SE 18th Ave and Stark St (503 SE 18th – house on corner)
Great rooftops at the starting point, too. The heights of urban bike exploration. Feeling low? Come up on the roof! A ride offering new perspectives.
