BikeCraft is this weekend!

This weekend is plump with great rides and events, including a few regular favorites and several long-awaited treats that only come once a year. Choose your own adventure and ride safely!

Friday, December 3rd

6:00pm-9:00pm: First Friday Art by Bike
This free monthly art gallery tour of inner Southeast and Northeast Portland hosted by Pedal Bike Tours offers visits to a handful of great locations in the Central Eastside Arts District’s First Friday art openings, and they’ll even let you borrow a bike, lights, and a helmet if you need one during the tour. Ride meets and ends downtown at 133 SW 2nd Ave at 6:00pm.

6:00pm: Vegan Dinner Ride
Another recurring favorite, this monthly gathering of vegans and vegan appreciators is gearing up for another meet-up and ride this weekend. Join the group at Colonel Summers Park at 6:00pm and ride to eat some great food around town.

Saturday, December 4th

8:30am: Bicycle Tree Planting
Join Friends of Trees as they make use of pedal power to transport and plant trees in the Richman, Buckman, and Hosford-Abernethy neighborhoods this Saturday. Come with a trailer to help haul, or just your bike and your hands to help plant and enjoy the ride, Meet at 3880 SE Brooklyn, RSVP using this form.

10:00am-6:00pm Saturday and Sunday: Bike Craft VI
Buckles and backpacks and cards, prints, and posters. T-shirts and wool caps and brewers and roasters. Carolers, carpenters, bracelets and rings, these are a few of our favorite bikey things! Come experience Portland workspersonship at its finest at the 6th annual Bike Craft, hosted by bikeportland.org, at the Portland Design Works Mothership, 15 NE Hancock this Saturday and Sunday.

All Day Saturday and Sunday: Cycle Wild Bike Camping–Champoeg State Park
Head down to scenic Champoeg State Park for the weekend with some great folks and local bike camping experts, Cycle Wild. Bring $5 to help cover the camp fee and meet at Voodoo Doughnuts Too at 1501 NE Davis to ride out with the group. Find out more about Cycle Wild and bike camping on their website here.

8:30am-3:00pm Saturday and Sunday: US Gran Prix of Cyclocross–Stanley Portland Cup
The finale to the USGP cyclocross season happens this weekend at PIR. Come watch some of the strongest riders compete before the national championships (next week in Bend), or prove you can take the mud and madness by registering to race. See the USGP website for more details, including information on a kids clinic and numbers ceremony on Friday.

Sunday, December 5th

10:00am-12:00pm: Forest Park Morning Ride
The folks at Stop Cycles must have loved their Thanksgiving morning ride so much that they’ve decided to make a habit of it. Grab your knobbies and join the gang for an off-road ride through the park starting at 4250 NW Leif Erikson Dr.

Monday, December 6th

5:00pm-9:00pm: Bike the Lights at PIR
While Monday is hardly a weekend day, this special holiday treat deserves another little shout-out. Come to Portland International Raceway and get a chance to ride through the Winter Wonderland light show on a car-free racetrack. Event sponsors and bringers of holiday cheer, Bike Gallery are also leading a group ride from Pioneer Square downtown leaving at 6:00pm and heading to the lights.
