The weekend is right around the corner! Don’t let the weather forecast (snow!), get you down or keep you off your bike. Start the weekend early (as in tomorrow) with a little food and freak, then check out some great community resources on Saturday and wrap it up with an all out cyclocross mess-fest.

Thursday, November 18th

5:00pm: Cartopia Book Release Ride
Local bike guide experts Portland Bicycle Tours are leading a free tour of Portland’s famous food cart pods to celebrate the release of the new book, Cartopia, Portland’s Food Cart Revolution.  Join Evan and the gang at 345 NW Everett and wind your way through downtown, ending at a reception at the Art Department gallery.

Friday, November 19th

9:00pm-3:00am: Dropout Bike Club Ride
Join the freak bike aficionados, The Dropout Bike Club for another edition of their epic late-night group rides this Friday. The ride meets at Colonel Summer’s park at 9pm and rides to a mystery location.

Saturday, August 21st

8:30am-2:00pm: Free Bike Tune-ups for Students and Families
Volunteer bike mechanics will be on hand at this weekend’s fix-it fair giving free bike tune-ups to attending students and their families free of charge, thanks to the Bike Gallery and Safe Routes to School. Stop by Ron Russel Middle School at 3955 SE 112th Ave. to get your bike ready for winter and to see all the other great stuff going on at the fair.

2:00pm-4:00pm: Bike Camping 102–Winter Camping
This free class brought to you by Portland’s bike touring experts, Cycle Wild, will run you through the basics of packing the bike for your next winter camping trip, tips on getting there, and advice on where to go. Event takes place at the Portland Hawthorne Hostel, 3031 SE Hawthorne Blvd.

2:45pm-5:00pm: Kidical Mass–Tour de Pie
Another edition of the great group ride event for kids and families happens this weekend, and this month’s theme is “Tour de Pie”. Grab the little ones and explore some fun and tasty pie stops in town on this easy-paced loop, meeting and finishing at Ladd’s Circle Park.

Sunday, November 21st

All Day: Kruger’s Crossing
While Cross Crusade’s busy fall schedule takes a time out, Kruger’s Farm Market on Sauvie Island will step up to the plate and host a cyclocross event of their own. Enjoy the same schedule and events as weeks past including races for all ages, genders, and classes at the farm. See event site for complete event details.
