The end of the month is fast approaching, and with it All-Hallows’ eve.  This weekend’s guide features a festive handful of gourds and goblins, and of course plenty of fun in the mud.

Friday, October 29th

7:00am-9:00am: Breakfast on the Bridges
Every last Friday of the month a team of self-organized volunteers take to the westbound paths of the bridges and hand out free coffee and breakfast to people walking and cycling to work. Come meet the great people who flip your flapjacks and your fellow commuters this weekend on the Hawthorne Bridge and the Steel Bridge lower deck.

10:30pm: North Freak Halloween Ride
The folks who bring you freak bike bashes and dance party parades are leading a Halloween ride for the serious fun-ist. Meet at Irving Park and ride to crash a few parties and then to a mystery location.

Saturday, October 30th

8:30am: 4th Annual Fruit Loop Ride
Experience the harvest season first-hand on this beautiful group ride to the Hood River area’s many fruit stands, farms, wineries, and orchards. Carpool out to the ride start location meets at the Vera Katz statue on the Esplanade. Ride is free and gas expense is shared, more details and RSVP information can be found here.

All day Saturday and Sunday: Cross Crusade #5 and #6
This weekend the legendary cyclocross event, Cross Crusade, takes the show on the road to Astoria for a double-header, two-day mud party at the Clatsup County Fairgrounds in Astoria, OR. Both days offer the same categories and race schedule, with Sunday being the official costume day, of course.

11:00am: Nightmare on Fixed Street Alleycat
There’s not much info out there about this one, but I guess an Alleycat shrouded in mystery is all the more fitting for Halloween. Register at Salmon Fountain at 11:00am and ride at 12:00pm.

Sunday, October 31st

4:30pm: Trick or Vote
Join the Bus Project this Halloween and ride around town knocking on doors to remind people to turn in their ballots.  Volunteers meet at the Wonder Ballroom at 4:30 and are able to attend the Bus Project’s Trick or Vote Monster’s Ball starting at 7:00pm.
