Every month is Bike Month in Portland. But since May is National Bike Month, in the next few weeks you’ll find a ton of special events with a focus on making bike commuting fun and easy.

Below is a round-up of Bike Month-specific events to take advantage of:

Lloyd TMA event flyer

Bike to Work Breakfast (PBOT)
Tuesday 5/11, from 7:30 to 9:00 am
Pioneer Courthouse Square

This is a grand Portland tradition that goes back to the 1970s. Join your friends from PBOT for free pancakes, donuts, coffee, bagels, fruit and other goodies. More info here.

Bike to Work Day Celebration (Lloyd TMA)
Friday 5/21, 7:30 – 9:00 am
Oregon Square (NE Holladay between NE 7th and 9th)

Join the nice folks at Lloyd TMA for their annual biking bash. Lots of free stuff including bike check-ups by Bike Gallery, door prizes, live music, massages, and a continental breakfast. Did I mention it’s all free? More info at LloydTMA.com.

Bike Commute 101 Workshops (Bicycle Transportation Alliance)
Thursday 5/6, 5:30 – 6:30pm in Old Town
Wednesday, 5/19, 12pm – 1pm in Downtown Portland
Friday, 5/21, 12pm – 1pm at Gresham City Hall

The BTA is hosting three of their well-reputed Bike Commute 101 workshops this month. Join them to learn about gear, where to find route maps, what to do about helmet hair, and how to ride safely and legally. Check out BTA4Bikes.org for locations and full details.
