This Saturday is Free Geek’s annual Geek Fair, an event that is sure to be full of bike fun for the entire family.

Free Geek is a local non-profit that recycles and refurbishes computer equipment and operates a community technology center in inner Southeast Portland.

In addition to their important work, they are also one of the most bikey companies in town. Staffer Sophia Luchini-Dexter says twelve of their fifteen full-time staffers and many of their volunteers bike to work. They’ve also hosted many cool bike events through the years including a Bike Swap Meet, Sprockettes performances, Chunkathlon, and even the World Naked Bike Ride Dance Party.

This year’s Geek Fair will continue the tradition.

Sophia says that along with live music, food, and “geeky activities”, they’ve planned a performance by bike dance crew Chain Reaction, a bike display by Clever Cycles, pedal-powered smoothies from Kyrstin Westwind, cheap helmets for sale ($6), and more!
