Once again, Pedalpalooza is entering its final few days, and once again, I’m thinking not only about all the great rides I did, but about all the great rides I missed.
One of these years I just might pack up my bike with a sleeping bag and a few necessities and do a 17-day, Pedalpalooza marathon, going on as many of the 200+ rides and events as possible.
That’s not to say I haven’t been to my share of rides this year. In case you haven’t noticed the headlines over in the sidebar, I’ve been posting daily ride/event menus as well as reports and photos from as many rides as I can.
Some of the latest coverage includes photos from the Bike Kiss-in. Imagine 10 or so couples sitting on a downtown sculpture/fountain and making out while evening rush-hour traffic zooms by and holding up signs like “Less parking space, more sucking face!” and the one below…
Or how about the Vegan Baked Goods Ride? Dozens of hungry, biking vegans, rampaging neighborhoods in search of baked goods.
I happened upon them at Black Sheep Bakery (SE 8th and Main), where a nice employee was so “overwhelmed” by the visit she gave up on the cash register and just put out an entire plate of free muffins, scones, and other treats.
And then there were those fashionable folks on the Sexy Cyclists Ride, which led to the Karaoke Ride, which turned into the 300+ strong David Bowie vs. Prince Mobile Dance Party Ride. Check out my Sexy Cyclists slideshow here.

I’ve had plenty of good times this month, but the Splash Dance Ride was definitely a highlight. My family and I joined about 60 other people on a parade that started at the Salmon Street fountain, where we danced and splashed like we owned the place.
Other stops on the ride included Skidmore Fountain, Jamison Square, and then the granddaddy of them all — Keller Fountain.
