Bike2Swifts Ride with Community Exchange Cycle Touring Club
Please join us for a short ride through town to check out the Vaux’s Swifts annual visit to Portland. Each September thousands of migrating swifts make the chimney of Chapman elementary school their evening roost. Every night for about 3 weeks, they flock before dusk, circling the sky before their dramatic descent into the chimney. If you have never been to this landmark Portland event before, it is really a one of a kind experience!
We’ll stop off at Food Front Co-op grocery store on the way to pick up picnic snacks. The actual bird event lasts about an hour and a half and will be observed from the lawn of Wallace Park. Dress for the weather and bring a blanket to sit on if you like.
