About the Position
Come spend the summer outside riding bikes with the Community Cycling Center. Join our Summer Day Camp team and lead week-long day camps throughout the summer. Work in the mornings leading games and bike-related activities and workshops (flat tire repair, bike art, route planning) and take kids on fun rides around Portland in the afternoon.
Hours: Full Time (average of 35 hours per week)
Pay: $10-$11/hour
Schedule: Mostly 8:30am-3:30pm Monday-Friday
Position Term: Seasonal, through August 31st
Location: 1700 NE Alberta St, Portland OR 97214
Duties:
- Work an average of 7hrs a day leading Bike Camp throughout the summer.
- Plan safe routes, fun activities, and field trips.
- Maintain a safe environment and ensure the safety of all participants at all times.
- Interact positively as a mentor for participating youth.
- Interact positively with parents of campers.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner.
General Qualifications:
- Enthusiasm for the program.
- Experience working with youth ages 6-15.
- Experience with experiential, outdoor, and/or alternative education models.
- Ability to master program content including basic bicycle maintenance, safe riding skills, cooperative teamwork concepts.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Respect for and commitment to diversity, teamwork, and progressive social values.
- National background check required.
