If it’s not raining, you should check out the track racing action at Alpenrose Velodrome in the Southwest Hills. It’s a beautiful ride out there and you’re guaranteed some thrills at the track. And how ’bout a Minibike Steeplechase later tonight? If Gabriel Amadeus is behind it, you know it’ll fun!

BIKE TO REUNITE! FUNDRAISER FOR THE PANGAEA PROJECT

Bike to Reunite! is a fun-filled, clue led ride all over the city of Portland where folks will ride as individuals or in teams of up to 5 riders and test their knowledge of the city, global issues and South American factoids in a race for the finish. So get your friends together and come up with your Team Theme so you can show the rest who’s #1. Costumes, signs, and noisemakers are encouraged! All who make it back to the end point will be entered to win excellent raffle prizes. There will be a post party at the County Cork Public House to quench our thirst after a day of riding! Registration will begin at 8:30 am and the ride begins at 10am. Refreshments will be served. The event will begin & end at the corner of NE MLK Jr. Blvd & NE Graham but where you will go…… depends on your team’s nose for clue huntin’.

FOUNTAIN RIDE

Why should kids have all the fun? You know you’ve always wanted to frolic alongside them in Portland’s public fountains; here’s your chance! Wear your swimsuit to Colonel Summers Park. From there we’ll ride to (and through) local public water displays, stopping at each for sunbathing and camaraderie. Bring a towel and sunscreen. Ride will be an easy 10-15 miles.

Join BTA staff and board to take a tour of projects highlighted in the BTA’s Blueprint for Better Bicycling report. During this ride we will visit the bike routes that Portland area bicyclists prefer. We will discuss our future vision and seek your ideas on completing a network of interconnected low-traffic bicycle streets. This will be a easy to moderate ride, approximately 8-10 miles.

Ever wonder if it’s possible to bike to such far out places as Gladstone, Powell Butte, or outer Northeast Portland? Here is your chance to ride to the edge of Portland and back. Routes cover bike-friendly roadways wherever possible and distances range from 12-30 miles. Most routes are found on the Portland virtual tour – www.yourbodypower.org Pre-ride tune-up clinic with certified mechanics provided at the start. This week’s ride will travel through the Rose Garden, and along the Hwy 26 bike path. If folks are up for it we can keep going to Tanasbourne.Note new start time – 2:30pm

This is the free, introductory, intimidation-dissolving class for the Bike Exit Strategy series. Even if you’ve never had any martial arts experience or athletic training you can learn these very simple confidence-building techniques! Please note, the techniques will be demonstrated from the ground, not from a bike! This is very basic stuff, however, everyone attending must use their own judgement and be responsible for their own safety.

The minibike Steeplechase Lives! Originally scheduled for minibikewinter 2006 the steeplechase is back and bigger than ever for Pedalpalooza. Basically it is a mystery ride after dark following a convoluted trail of glowsticks down through Washington Park. There will be a minibike heat as well as a big bike heat. Grueling. Dangerous. Fun. And a party afterwards!
