Women & Trans Wrench Night

December 3 at 5:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every month that begins at 5:00 pm on day First of the month, repeating until January 2, 2020

Want to work on your bike, but don’t have all the tools? You can come to the shop and use ours! Not sure where to start once the wrench is in your hand? Our mechanics are here to help you learn.

Women and Trans wrench night is every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at our shop. This shift is specifically for all women, non binary and trans identified people, and is closed to cisgender males, to provide a safer space for women and gender minorities.

Bike Farm is an all volunteer run, do-it-yourself bicycle education collective. We provide the stands, tools, and mechanic advice to help you learn to work on your own bicycle.

More information about this shift:

We introduce ourselves by our preferred names and pronouns.

Our mission is to provide:
1. A space for women, non binary and trans identified people to practice and learn skills in a cisgender male majority industry
2. A supportive community for women, non binary and trans identified people
3. Affordable access to bicycle transportation and repair for women, non binary and trans identified people of all incomes
4. A culture of respect for people’s identities and level of understanding on the subject of gender, which can be confusing. It’s okay to make mistakes when we are willing to learn from them, and we encourage people to take the initiative to co-educate each other.

If you aren’t a female, non binary or transgender person, but want to support this community, please be an ally and come back to Bike Farm during a regular shift! And tell your friends!
