Volunteer Orientation: help us stop a freeway!
February 20 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Hey folks! the Environmental Assessment Public Comment period is about to drop for the Rose Quarter Freeway Expansion Project. We originally asked for an extension to the thirty day public comment period, but ODOT refused, so we only have thirty days to get as many comments as possible on the record in opposition to this disastrous project.
We’d love your help over the next month – we’ll need a variety of small but significant sweat equity tasks from handing out flyers, showing up to testify, planning some events, copy-editing, and other scheming.
Join us at AORTA’s office to learn how you can help stop this $500 million boondoggle that is terrible for air quality, carbon emissions, and won’t even solve congestion.
AORTA is located in office 253 of Union Station in Old Town, Portland (there’s a quasi-hidden staircase and elevator near the baggage claim of the train station that leads to the office on the second floor).
Union Station is accessible via Yellow/Green/Orange line MAX and many bus lines on the Transit Mall.
If you have any accessibility questions, feel free to reach out and we’ll sincerely do our best to accomodate: firstname.lastname@example.org
