In partnership with Elaine B. Bikes, NW Trail Sisters offers a Beginner Mountain Bike Skills Clinic for those who identify as women, trans, femme on Saturday, May 14th, from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm at Sandy Ridge.

Class size is limited, and pre-registration is required. Cost: $10 donation to NWTA, scholarships available (email juntu@nw-trail.org)

NWTA follows the current state-mandated protocols. The information can be found here: State of Oregon COVID mandates

Rider Experience: Beginner with 0 – 1 year of riding on dirt trails

This class is for beginners who want to be more comfortable riding a bike on “Green” mountain bike trails, dirt, grass, and varied and down features up to 3-4 inches high. They can shift gears and corner, but it might not go as smoothly as it could — or at the right time. They are interested in rolling over taller features and possibly riding pump tracks (or rolling terrain) without pedaling the whole time. They can ride 2 miles or more on a trail or bike path.

During this class: these riders will continue to improve their balance overall and learn to stand and coast on the pedals for short. They’ll learn to ride over varying terrain, including trails and rolling terrain, brake and corner with more confidence, and shift more smoothly. They’ll learn to climb, descend and ride faster; they’ll also learn slow-riding skills to have fun riding more technical trails, including roll downs up to 6-8” high.
