An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Sunday, repeating until January 5, 2020
The ¡Sauvie Shootout! is a spirited weekly group drop ride. Bring a friend or 3 and make The Sauvie Shootout part of your weekly training plan! We depart EVERY SUNDAY at 9 AM from Ovation Coffee -941 NW Overton
This is a self-supported, unsanctioned group ride. This is a 100% open course on public roads, open to cars and automobile traffic. Riders agree to RIDE AT THEIR OWN RISK. You and ONLY YOU will be responsible for navigating hazards as they relate to traffic, roads, general safety and weather conditions. Riders are absolutely under their own responsibility to ride, navigate and conduct themselves safely and appropriate to conditions as they exist in the field. This is not a race or an organized event. On the contrary, we are and have always been just a nice group of friends out for a fast fun bike ride.
Riders understand that as a condition of participation..ie..’showing up’, riders agree to assume all risks and agree to release and hold harmless everyone associated with this ride, including any organizers, volunteers or sponsors.
The ride name is a little deceiving; the ride starts out at Ovation Coffee and is a “coffee style ride” with a neutral pace all the way out to the island. This provides lots of opportunity to meet great people on different teams or unassociated riders, in the process, strengthening the cycling community in Portland. Take the opportunity to meet new people and welcome new faces to the group as well as catching up with your crew- If you don’t meet someone new each week on The Shootout, you’re missing one of it’s objectives- Community.
This ride is different every week based on WHO shows up, not WHERE it goes. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19052761
Please help ensure the longevity of The Sauvie Shootout by calling out those that are blatantly breaking any rules of the road (don’t EVER cross the center line!). Nobody wants to be a nag, but we really don’t want to see mishaps, law enforcement nor angry Island Residents threaten the health of The Sauvie Shootout. Please mentor the peloton and teach less experienced group riders.
Use your head. Use common sense. Ride safely. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURSELF.
