Road Cycling 101 Skills Clinic & Ride (Vancouver Bicycle Club)
April 16 at 5:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 5:30pm on Monday, repeating until May 28, 2018
We’ll cover a number of bike related topics including helmet fitting, rules of the road, equipment/gear, safety/street smarts, and how to choose rides and routes. Post-ride there will be plenty of time for Q&A, social networking, and occasional no-host dinner at a nearby restaurant.
A 3-month spring series of weekly rides hosted by Vancouver Bicycle Club.
Route – Wind through the flat neighborhoods and the cemetery. Low traffic to start. Then MacArthur bike lanes, lovely green bike box at Mill Plain, etc.
Target Audience – People just starting out. Maybe they aspire to triathlete events. Maybe they want to commute to work/coffee shop. Maybe they want to shed pounds. Whatever.
One hour rides through the neighborhood geared to be slow, short, and flat. 5-10 miles. 10 mph. Time for discussion/questions.
Goals: shifting, braking, signaling, gear discussions, group riding skills, bike lanes, intersections, weather, commuting etc.
