PBOT Bicycle Advisory Committee meeting
December 10, 2019 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The twenty-member volunteer Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) meets monthly to review projects and discuss bike issues. The committee advises City Council and bureaus on all bicycle-related matters. The meetings are staffed by the Portland Bureau of Transportation bicycle coordinator. The public is encouraged to attend. Snacks and drinks are provided.
For more information about the BAC, visit the transportation bureau’s website.
December 10th Agenda:
Fixing Our Streets 2 Redux (6:10-6:30)
Mark Lear from PBOT will present a summary of the proposal to continue the Fixing Our Streets ten-cent local gas/diesel tax on light vehicles and Heavy Vehicle Use Tax. He will provide an update on the presentation provided at the last BAC meeting and ask the Bicycle Advisory Committee for their endorsement that City Council refer this proposal to Portland voters in May 2020.
1. Is there support to endorse the Fixing Our Streets 2 proposal?
2. Are there any recommendations to improve the proposal or implementation of the proposal?
3. Are there recommendations on additional ways to improve our outreach on this proposal over the next few months?
Committee Business (6:30-7:10)
Bicycle Coordinator Report on 2019
Rose Lane Project (7:10-8:00)
April Bertelsen from PBOT will present on this project, through which PBOT is exploring how we can get buses and streetcar trains out of traffic, helping more Portlanders get where they need to go more reliably and quickly. April will present an introductory overview and the draft proposed Rose Lane Vision, including proposed candidate pilots to seek initial feedback from the BAC.
Is there general support for the Rose Lane Vision?
Are there any concerns or considerations for staff regarding the cycling environment?
Does the BAC want this project to return to a future BAC meeting?
