October 2021 Agenda:
Public Comment (6:10-6:15)
Streets 2035 (6:15-7:00)
PBOT Project Manager Mathew Berkow will discuss ongoing work on Streets 2035. The 2035 Comprehensive Plan establishes that public rights-of-way provide multiple public services, including multimodal transportation and access, utilities, trees and greening, and community uses. Streets 2035 aims to create a framework that binds the various policies and design requirements related to each of these public services and guide consistent decision-making in both a development context and for capital projects. Matt will provide an update on the work to date, highlight examples where limited space creates challenges for a variety of right-of-way priorities, and lead a discussion with the BAC around relevant decision-making factors.
Portland Pedestrian Design Guide and Bikes (7:00-7:40)
Portland’s preferred protected bicycle lane form is a sidewalk-level protected bicycle lane. The Portland Pedestrian Design Guide is the latest document to consider the relationship between people biking and walking at sidewalk level. Michelle Marx, PBOT’s Pedestrian Coordinator and project manager for development of the design guide, will present. The design guide is currently a public review draft. It is open to public comment through October 31.
Bicycle Quick Builds (Small Capitol Programs) (7:40-8:00)
PBOT staff Bob Kellett and Roger Geller will discuss the status of the quick build program. Roger will present bicycle projects completed by the program and a list of potential future projects.
