PBOT Bicycle Advisory Committee Meeting

March 9 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

NOTE: Meeting held virtually until further notice.

The twenty-member volunteer Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) meets monthly to review projects and discuss bike issues. The committee advises City Council and bureaus on all bicycle-related matters. The meetings are staffed by the Portland Bureau of Transportation bicycle coordinator. The public is encouraged to attend. Snacks and drinks are provided.

Introductions/Announcements (6:00-6:10)

BAC Communications (6:20-6:40)
Committee will review and finalize two letters; the first reflecting BAC comments in response to the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Earthquake Ready Burnside Bridge and the second in response the PBOT’s decision on the Hawthorne Pave & Paint Project.

Report from The Street Trust (6:40-7:05)
Sarah Iannarone, BAC member and Interim Executive Director of The Street Trust, will provide a report on Senate Bill 395, and other work underway and will also discuss lessons in advocacy as a guide to moving forward. She is interested in hearing feedback from the committee on when and how The Street Trust has operated most effectively to improve outcomes for people bicycling as a guide to the future.

Resilient Slow Streets (7:05-7:35)
Scott Cohen, PBOT’s Neighborhood Greenways Coordinator, will discuss PBOT’s plan to create more resilient installations of the city’s slow street treatments implemented in response to the pandemic.

Lloyd to Woodlawn: Focus on 7th Avenue Treatments (7:35-8:00)
Roger Geller, PBOT’s Bicycle Coordinator, will discuss and seek input on design treatments proposed for NE 7th Avenue at Tillamook and Broadway as part of the Lloyd to Woodlawn project.
