Monroe Neighborhood Street Design Plan Open House

April 28, 2016 at 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Clackamas County is working to design improvements to Monroe Street, Thompson Road and connecting streets to increase safety and accessibility for all travelers – drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists. The project includes development of a Safe Routes to Schools plan for Whitcomb Elementary School.

The public is invited to learn more about the latest design plans at a public open house scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, in the cafeteria at Whitcomb Elementary School, 7400 SE Thompson Road, Milwaukie.

The revised designs are based on the response from the public at an open house held in February, and from the project advisory committees. The public is welcome to drop-in at any time between 6:30 and 8:30. Participants will have the chance to ask questions and comment on designs for several specific areas:

Monroe Street, from Linwood Avenue to 72nd Avenue
Monroe Street, from 72nd Avenue to Fuller Avenue
Thompson Road, from 72nd to Fuller Avenue
Spencer Drive, from Boyer Drive to the Interstate 205 path
72nd Avenue, from Monroe Street to Thompson Road
Monroe Street is a key east-west route across Milwaukie and northwest Clackamas County, an important link between downtown Milwaukie and Clackamas Town Center, and a valuable connection between the MAX Orange Line and MAX Green Line. Public and technical advisory groups have been meeting with county staff and consultants to identify initial design options for the past six months.

More information about the project is available online or by contacting Project Manager Scott Hoelscher at 503-742-4524.
