Giro PDX

August 30, 2020

We planned almost a year ago to cancel the Giro PDX on August 30, 2020. And we’re sticking to that plan. In preparation for the cancellation, the course has already been painted. Check out the decoder ring attached. Note the arrow with a tail means “turn ahead” and sans tail means “turn here”. Arrows may have a lion or a “G” below them, or they may be unadorned. We are still planning to mark the single-track sections the night before (so I don’t get lost).

Due to COVID, all support is cancelled. There will be no starting line Nossa Familia coffee, no midpoint aid station and no finish line Pixie Project Celebration Station this year. So be prepared and self sufficient. There are markets along the way. See POIs on the RideWithGPS Route. Also note the warning POI on mile 10 of the route – there is dangerously damaged pavement on the descent of Greenbluff Dr. – the first descent after leaving downtown Lake Oswego. Go slow and stay right.

The course is entirely on public roads and trails; so you may Chase Green Lions next Sunday or any day you choose. Just be respectful, kind and smart – bring a face covering and prepare for quick donning. Give wide berth at all times.

Despite the cancellation, I still plan to ride the course on 8/30. A few friends may join. If you choose to ride, we encourage small socially distanced pods and distributed start times.
