Book Signing, Route Swapping Party
November 17, 2016 at 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
If you like riding on pavement, there are plenty of great rides in the Portland area. The new book Best Bike Rides in Portland, out now from Falcon Guides, showcases a nice mix of some of Portland’s very best road rides. There are a few mt. bike rides thrown in too, for good measure.
The book is meant to be a primer for visitors and locals alike, and all 40 rides range from 5-30 miles in length and start in the general Portland area (but as far away as Hood River region).
There are rides for leisurely weekend explorations, hill climb challenges, kids’ fountain play, sinking into the wilderness around us and so much more. the book features route highlights, clear maps and turn-by-turn directions with mile points.
To celebrate, authors Ayleen Crotty (editor of ORbike.com) and veteran guide book author Lizann Dunegan are hosting a Book Signing + Route Swapping Party at Velo Cult Bike Shop and Tavern on November 17 from 6:30-8:00pm. There will be special no-host snacks and beer from Base Camp Brewing. Base Camp will be pouring their awesome Coffee Then Bikes Then Beer, a collaboration with Stumptown Coffee in honor of the Ride HiFi race team.
Books will be available for sale, and maps will be spread out all over the broad tables for people to share favorite rides, secret roads and hidden gems.
Falcon is a leader in guide book publishing and this book is part of their Best Bike Rides series, highlighting amazing bike rides in cities all over the nation. The Portland book was a long-time in the making as the authors worked hard to whittle down an extensive list of impressive rides.
The authors hope this book will get more people out on bikes to explore the city and its gorgeous fringes.
