What you need: Working front and rear lights, spare tubes so you’re not stranded with a flat, a lock, your ID, and it’s always a good idea to wear a helmet.
About us: Bikin’ Betties is a women/trans/femme/gender non-conforming bike ride on Monday nights. It’s a great way to meet fellow cyclists, get a workout, learn bike routes around our city, and become more skilled and confident on our bikes. Bikin’ Betties is about creating a safe and supportive cycling community and we welcome women, genderqueer, non-binary, and trans folks to join us.
These are no-drop rides (meaning no one gets left behind) between 10-20 miles at a pace that suits the group. We usually end at a bar/restaurant/coffee shop where we can hang out, drink some dranks and talk about how badass we are.
If you like/would like to ride a bike, join the Bikin’ Betties facebook group to stay in the loop with events and discussions: https://www.facebook.com/groups/149442188741176/
We ride AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way and let cars pass as best we can. We don’t block intersections. We are cool to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road.
REMINDER: The goal has always been to create a safe environment for all riders, but we cannot control every rider’s behavior, nor do we desire to. We promote personal responsibility, and it is each rider’s responsibility to take care of themselves, and if they choose to ride with us, then they accept those risks inherent in riding a bicycle with a large group of other people riding bicycles.
