Bikecamping to Champoeg (Friends on Bikes)

Calling all women of color, trans and gender non-conforming people of color! Join us Sat, Sept 29 and Sun, Sept 30 for a bike camping trip to Champoeg State Park! This is a ~74 mile round-trip, intermediate friendly ride with one night of camping. We’ll primarily be riding on the Willamette Trail, Milwaukie’s Trolley Trail, and the Champoeg/Butteville trail leading into the State Park. Whether you’re an intermediate rider looking to go on your first bike camping trip OR a rider who’s looking to explore different areas in Portland, join us!

Sat, Sept 29 we will meet 9am at Ristretto Roasters Coffee on 555 NE Couch St. and rollout at 9:30am. We’ll bike ~36 miles to Champoeg and stopping in Canby for groceries 11 miles before camp. We will set up camp and head over to Willamette River to hangout. At night we’ll eat dinner, make ‘smores over a fire or our camp stoves depending if there is a fire ban.
Sun, Sept 30 we will eat breakfast, breakdown camp, do some stretching and rollout around 9:30am. We’ll bike ~36 miles back to Portland and stopping in Gladstone for a lunch break. Expect to get back to Portland around 3-4pm. For those who want to hangout afterwards, we will stop at Cartopia in SE for post bike camping food.
This is a safe and inviting space for riders curious about bike camping and exploring the greater Portland area by bike. This trip is reserved for women of color, trans and gender non-conforming people of color.
