Albina Vision Juneteenth Teach-in Workshop
June 19 at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
This is it. Your direct invitation to get in there and learn about the history of Albina, the crossroads we’re at, and the future we’re building together.
As the heart of Portland’s Black community for many generations, Albina was home to thriving Black-owned businesses, cultural institutions, parks and greenspaces, stretching from the banks of the Willamette River through inner North and Northeast Portland to Columbia Blvd.
Albina still exists. But decades of racist urban planning and “Urban Renewal” have changed it beyond recognition – tearing down homes and businesses, displacing hundreds of families to make way for freeways, Memorial Coliseum, and a hospital expansion that never came to fruition.
Come join us virtually on Juneteenth as we talk about this rich history, discuss present dilemmas, and get involved in shaping the future of Albina!
