Portland Parks & Rec is hosting the
All-City BMX Jam on Saturday.

It looks like this heat wave is finally starting to pass, and the upcoming weekend should be blissfully mild.  As a reward for all of your sweat and sunburns allow me to present a jam-packed event guide for your riding pleasure.

Friday, August 20th

4:30pm-6:30pm: Portland Opera Bikes Beerana
Stop by the Portland Opera Center (on the Eastbank Esplanade south of OMSI) after work and enjoy complimentary Widmer beer, snacks, and samplings from their upcoming presentations of Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci” and Orff’s “Carmina Burana” on their riverfront patio.  Located at the south end of the Eastbank Esplanade at 211 SE Caruthers St.[Read more…]

Another packed calender and a sunny forecast means plenty of bike fun options for everyone.  Head downtown to watch some sunset racing, enjoy some good, old-fashioned, biking circus merriment on the waterfront, and have a ball with the whole family at Sunday Parkways. 

Friday, August 13th

4:00pm-9:00pm: Portland Twilight Criterium
This exciting evening race through the streets of downtown Portland draws in teams from all over the country to compete.  Featuring a handbuilt bike show, food carts, and beer gardens.  Free to attend, bike parking at NW Park and Flanders.[Read more…]

Ahh… summer in Portland. The weather is looking great and the weekend is brimming with some excellent events. Get ready to haul, drink, race, and drool (in no particular order). What more could you want?

Saturday, August 7th

All day: Jackson’s Ride The Gorge
A ride through the Columbia River Gorge to raise money for the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation. Named after Jackson Hill, an 11-year old boy who loved cycling and who battled the cancer valiantly before his death in 2005.

7:00am: Bikes ‘n’ Brew
A free, unsupported century featuring breweries from Portland to Hood River and in between. This ride features a good amount of climbing with frequent drink and rest stops and amazing views. Meets at 7:00am at Hair of the Dog Brewing (4509 SE 23rd). Ride ends in Hood River and is not a loop. See BikesNBrew.com for info and to RSVP.[Read more…]
