Massive crowds at NAHBS

Crowds pack into the Sacramento Convention Center for a glimpse at the best handmade bikes in America.

Just a quick note to say that the crowds here at NAHBS have been massive! It’s great to see such huge support for handmade bikes.

According to show organizers, yesterday’s opening day attendance was 2,100 — just 200 shy of the record set by Portland in 2008. Today, the crowds have been even larger. The floor of the Sacramento Convention Center is jam-packed, with some booths so full it’s hard to get a spot to see the bikes.

As I was walking to the media center today, I saw the line for tickets stretching all the way out the doors and into the street! There were easily 250-300 people waiting to get in.

There are a tons of families and little ones running around and I hope they’re all getting a good look at the cargo bikes. I also hope the builders at the show are translating all this interest into sales.

The line was stretching out the door, onto the sidewalk and all the way around the corner when I walked out today!

OMG, I love the orange-red bike in the second photo, would love to learn more about it.

Hey Depak, you must have missed my story about that bike last week.
