Portland’s Peacock Lane Tradition Continues

Residents plan light displays, pedestrian-only nights to accommodate Portlanders of all ages
Portland, OR, October 26, 2011: Continuing a rich tradition of holiday spirit that began in the 1920s, residents of Southeast Portland’s Peacock Lane neighborhood are looking forward to delighting thousands of passersby with their Christmas light displays again this year. Many Portland residents have been coming together to enjoy the lights displays for decades, and residents of Peacock Lane work hard every year to make it a fun tradition for all. Here’s everything you need to know about Peacock Lane this year:
Schedule

Lighting displays run from December 15th to 31st from 6 pm to 11 pm, and are open to vehicles and pedestrians with a few important exceptions:

Thursday, December 15th: PEDESTRIANS ONLY – NO VEHICLES ALLOWED
Friday, December 16th: PEDESTRIANS ONLY – NO VEHICLES ALLOWED
Saturday, December 24th: Lights on 6 pm to midnight
Saturday, December 31st: Lights on 6 pm to midnight

If you are planning a field trip for residents of a group home, please be aware that your vehicle will be turned away on pedestrian only nights. Please visit us on another night.

Cocoa Booth
Residents will again be staffing a free cocoa booth on the lane during lighting hours. Donations of cash and canned goods will be accepted at the cocoa booth and donated to charity.
