Just got details on a great free event tonight in North Portland.

From 6-8:00 pm on the corner of N. Albina and Sumner (5128 N. Albina, near Cherry Sprout market), the Sprockettes and Cyclecide will perform. Cyclecide is a San Francisco based band and performance group known for their “Heavy Pedal Bike Rodeo” and companion punk rock band “Los Banos.”

The two groups are fresh off the huge Dead Baby Downhill weekend up in Seattle and they’re making a special stop in Portland tonight. Here’s the blurb from the Facebook page:

Cyclecide and The Sprockettes are teaming up to bring you an amazing show!

Los Banos, Cyclecide’s premier punk clown band, will bring you to your knees, praising the gods of clowns, trombones, red noses, and beer. Their Heavy Pedal Rodeo will awe and amaze you! Try your hand at riding the freak bikes in the bike corral. And check out the Sprockettes in all their glory.

The show is free, but a few bucks for the traveling band are appreciated.

Consider swinging by on your way home to catch some great bike-inspired performances.

Kinda let down when I showed up at 6 with my kids, only to learn that the performing would *start* at 8:00, rather than start at 6 and *end* at 8. We stuck around for about 45 minutes when they let the kids try out all of the groovy freak bikes, which was cool, but 2+ hours was too long for 3 kids to hold their water in such a small space. Hope it was a good show.
