A trailer owned by the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association (OBRA) has been stolen. The trailer was parked in the parking lot of Co-Motion Cycles in Eugene. OBRA officials say the trailer was full of race equipment and at least one race has been cancelled as a result of the theft.
Candi Murray with OBRA says the contents of the trailer included a display clock worth about $2,500, a Honda power generator valued at $1,000 and several traffic control signs that cost about $250 a piece. The trailer itself was just purchased in Portland for $2,750.

That will be easy to hide. Seems like a weird thing to steal; maybe they thought there were bikes inside.
This is the second ORBA theft in as many years, both from the same place, Co-Motion factory. Sad.
I thought so too, didn’t an ORBA trailer get broke into and get gutted @ co-motion a couple years back?
just like locking your bike, there are ways to secure trailers so they can’t be stolen.
Thing was locked to a truck. The only way they’ll get inside it is unfortunately, with an axe. They’re locked down with Pro Series shrouded steel master locks. Unfortunately, there’s no lojak capability in Lane County.

Sure is, I almost lost an eye getting jumped for one of my bikes downtown last year. i was reluctant to let it go, and was maimed by four people. 160k & four surgeries later, I’m back to 20/25. Thank you street kids of Eugene!
its probably been rolled with wall paint and is on its way to LA flea market full of stolen stuff including bikes 🙁
There’s a reason that OnGuard and Kryptonite don’t honor their theft-insurance in NYC or Eugene.
That would be funny if true. I do hear Eugene has a higher per-capita car theft rate than NYC. But I just checked the manufacturers’ sites: OnGuard doesn’t cover NY State residents, but that’s it. No other restriction from either company.
When I lived in Eugene, I used to joke that I was less worried about getting my car stolen than that someone would start a meth lab in it. That said, there are some sticky, sticky fingers in that town. Hope they have adequate insurance and aren’t set back too much.

Second time in a few years, right? Maybe there’s a different place to store these trailers- like nowhere near Eugene. Place is full of problems. Too bad. . .
maybe its time to use an unmarked trailer. get some banners to hang on the trailer at events if they want to show the logo.
That’s a good idea. Or large magnetic signs to slap on the sides of whatever trailer’s in use.

Is OBRA a non-profit? I mean, if someone had a trailer that they might want to donate, would there be a chance to take a tax-deduction? Mrs Dibbly & I have a 5×8 enclosed utility trailer that we used to move to Portland from Florida about a year ago. It’s older than the one in the photo, but it’s solid, doesn’t leak, has only 3000 miles on the wheel bearings, and made the trip out here with no trouble at all.
