Chamois cream for him and her: DZ Nuts and Hoo Ha Ride Glide

Care for down there.

J.R. and I saw a lot of interesting things in our four days at Interbike, but there are two products whose names we just can’t seem to get out of our heads: DZ Nuts and Hoo Ha Ride Glide. Both products are creams that keep you comfortable you know where.

DZ Nuts promises that they use “only the finest ingredients for your goods” and they’ve got pro racer and uber-sprinter Mark Cavendish as one of their poster boys. The cream is meant to tame saddle sores and keep you feeling good down there no matter how many miles you put in. It’s a mix of tea tree oil (for its anti fungal properties), evodia (a Chinese herb with anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties) and masterwort (another wound healing agent from the Swiss Alps and used by the ancient Greeks).

And, “Because a women’s needs are different and their products should be too,” Reflect Sports makes the Hoo Ha Ride Glide (yes, Hoo Ha, which is also what my seven year-old calls it)…

There’s truly something for everyone here at Interbike.

Recumbents are sweet rides.
TriMet will laugh at you when you try to load it and then call the cops; it’s nice to be able to use TriMet as a fallback option in case of some bike or rider problem.
For now that means upwrongs only.

DZ Bliss is the female version of DZ Nuts.
I find $25 for 4 oz. a bit pricey. would love to hear testimonials – anyone try DZ Bliss yet?

An alternative is the aptly named Bag Balm.

Hoo-Ha is excellent stuff, great on the shorts and cleans up very easily. Not greasy feeling at all. I now use nothing else.

(Disclaimer: Reflect Sports is a sponsor of my team, Velo Bella, which is how I got to try a small sample of this stuff last year.)

I’m new to biking, have only done about 30 miles on any one ride–can anyone explain chamois cream? I’m a guy, I wear street clothes (so far) for cycling, and to me it seems counterintuitive to want to moisturize down there.

DZ Nuts got me through 2,500 miles of touring with no significant saddle sores. It also smells really good. I recommend it.
