Section of Springwater Trail re-opens: Celebration planned tonight

A section of the Springwater Trail on the Willamette River near the Sellwood Bridge that has been closed since September officially re-opens today. The Bureau of Environmental Services had been working on a sewer pipeline project that had closed the trail from SE Spokane St. to Umatilla.

To celebrate the re-opening of the trail, BES will have refreshments for trail users at SE Grand and Umatilla from 4:00 – 6:00pm tonight (4/19).

Here’s the flyer:

Can somebody give more information about where SE Grand meets Umatilla? I can’t seem to find it on Google maps. Is it on the western most part of Umatilla?

Thanks for the help!

I was curious too JLD.. I asked BES. Apparently when the City says “Grand” they mean the railroad right-of-way. The party tonight will be at the western terminus of Umatilla where the tracks are. — Jonathan

Ha! It was some peanut butter cookies, lemonade, and hardly anyone there except some city engineers. Most people–myself included–rode in, stayed a few, and then rode out. Maybe it became more fun after I’d departed…
