Wasn’t that the name of Nuclear Holocaust TV movie in the 80’s?

Man, that Bojack site certainly is a special place.

I can be pretty cynical and negative about certain things, but that site takes hatred of themselves and life in general to a new level.

i never feel so alienated and misanthropic as when reading the comments on local teevee and fishwrap news sites. there’s maybe some peril in ignoring them, but man does it feel better!

Interesting seeing all those headlines together. KATU’s is the most straightforward neutral. The O’s isn’t bad.

With council having approved the plan, PBJ summons enough respect for it to refer to the plan as ‘bike plan’, rather than ‘bike lanes’ as it did its survey question.

Bojack? His readership apparently consists of people that have to be poked regularly with a big sharp stick to keep their pulse or a thought going. I’ve spent almost ‘0’ time, reading at his site. His headline for this story is a tip-off why.

Bojack is pretty reflexively anti- almost everything Portland’s City Council does, which would of course include diverting funds from BES or hiking Portland residents’ water bills to pay for the Bike Master Plan. Jack’s site represents an old-school, more working-class liberal outlook to public policy, which makes it a nice compliment/antidote to the yuppie, pro-gentrification, enviro-extremeist, ‘let the poor and disabled ride bikes’ outlook here at BikePortland. Needless to say, I have issues with the outlooks of both websites, but the contrast works well when you follow them both.

For instance, Bojack addressed the devastating service cuts TriMet has just proposed. BikePortland hasn’t. Bojack’s site just tends to take a broader view of all the problems plaguing the city — the inadequate response to the homeless crisis, the lack of adequate funding for mental health and drug treatment, stuff that affects the city’s most vulnerable as well as the city’s middle-class. BikePortland, not so much. Consequently, anything that Jack thinks is a waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere, he rails against.

Michael, maybe neither site, BP or BJ, is doing enough of the right thing to capture the hearts and minds of the ‘old-school, more working-class liberal’.

Ya, it’s so strange to come to a site called BikePortland and see that all they seem to talk about are Portland Bicycling issues. Very odd…
