Veer documentary will screen at Portland Art Museum tomorrow

You’ve heard about it, now tomorrow is your chance to see it for yourself in Portland.

“it’s a frequently heartening portrait of what there is to love, and love deeply, about our fair city.”
— Shawn Levy, The Oregonian

Fresh off their big success at the Victoria Film Festival last month (their first screening outside of Portland), Greg Fredette and Jason Turner will present their documentary, Veer: A documentary film about bicycling culture, in Portland tomorrow night.

The special screening will be at the Portland Art Museum’s Whitsell Auditorium (1219 SW Park). BTA Executive Director (and one of the main characters) Scott Bricker will introduce the film and Fredette and Turner will attend.

If you’re one of the locals who haven’t seen the film yet, this is a great opportunity to see a very engaging documentary about bike culture (and it just so happens to be based on many familiar local faces). Tickets are available at the door or in advance here.

For more coverage of Veer, read my review of the film and browse previous coverage. The Oregonian’s Shawn Levy also just published a mini-review.

Is this movie ok for kids, I have a 10 and 12 yo and they are both bikers and enjoy aspects of the PDX Bike Culture.

I don’t remember any family-unfriendly parts in Veer. PG if not straight G.
Yeah Veer !

Sheilagh,

There is some brief nudity (naked rides), a small amount of swearing in a couple of parts, and some serious subject-matter (people talking about losing loved ones to bike/car accidents). There is nothing I would consider graphic.

My kids have seen it and I feel fine with it. But parents should know about the above before deciding if its okay for their kids.

Will the movie be played again at another theatre? Maybe a week at Cinema 21 or the Clinton Street Theatre? I can’t make it Wednesday, but want to see it on the big screen.

Yes – if you can’t make it Wed you can catch it at the Living Room Theater starting Friday the 6th through the 12th. http://www.livingroomtheaters.com/contact.html

We would like everyone to make it out to the Portland Art Museum screening if you can. Screenings there help support the Northwest Film Center.
