Filmed by Bike call for entries

Filmed by Bike is Portland’s very own bike film festival. Now in its fifth year, the fest has grown from 80 people in a cafe its first year, to 550 people packing into the Clinton Street Theater last year.

This year, organizer Ayleen Crotty will offer three days of screenings (April 13-15) and it’s sure to be better than ever.

But what’s a film fest without any films? Why not make a little movie and send it on in? Last year my favorite films were done by local, first-time movie-makers.

Spread this call for entries far and wide…the more submissions, the better the fest will be (and who wants to sit through a bunch of lame movies?!).

Who knows, it just might make you famous (ask Michael Jones!).

Thanks for the announcement, Jonathan! We’re really excited for this year’s show. The additional two days of screenings means that all those people who didn’t make it in last year will get to go this time around. One of the volunteers estimates there were around 250 people turned away last year due to lack of space – that’s half our audience!

There will also be a new DVD coming out for 2007, but the 2006 DVD is still for sale. Oh yeah, and it makes a great holiday gift – packed with 18 little bike movies and bonus material not screened last year. See http://www.FilmedByBike.org for details.
