What to expect at BikeCraft

BikeCraft is much more than a place to find unique, bike-inspired gifts. It’s a place to meet old and new friends and get to know the artists behind the crafts.

You don’t want to miss this event, so please invite all your friends and co-workers to come on down and check it out.

Below is a list of the 20(!) confirmed BikeCraft vendors (in no particular order) and more information about what they will share on Thursday night:

James and Amy DeRosso
James and Amy DeRosso bring you a selection of ceramic plates imprinted with various bike gears and chains. They’ll also have bicycle inspired terra-cotta pots, a great gift for the gardening cyclist in your life.

Maggie Burrus-Granger
Maggie Burrus-Granger does magic with her bike-powered sewing machine. From pillowcases embroidered with bicycles to a sweater for your steed, you won’t want to miss her table.

Shaun Deller
Shaun Deller makes cycling caps under his Recyclist Apparel label. You’ve probably seen his work around town as his hats have become de rigueur around Portland’s bike scene. His hats are made from recycled thrift-store fabric and he’ll have all sorts of flavors for sale at the show.

Carye Bye
Carye Bye of Red Bat Press is the consummate bikey crafter. She has turned her love of bikes and woodcut printing into a thriving business. She’ll debut a brand new postcard at BikeCraft called "At Midnight We Ride!" as a commemoration of the popular Midnight Mystery Rides.

Shawn Granton
Illustrator Shawn Granton’s work can be seen all over Portland’s printed bike culture. He has done posters for Pedalpalooza and many other events. He will sell an assortment of products that feature his bikey illustrations. See more of Shawn’s bike art at his online gallery.

Community Cycling Center
The CCC receives tons of donated bikes every year. They can’t use everything they get and some of it goes to making bike gifts that help raise funds for their programs. Thursday night is your chance to get one of their recycled bike part ornaments.

Chris King
Chris King Components is a Portland based manufacturer of high-end bike components…but they’ll leave that stuff at the shop on Thursday. Instead they will share their interesting 2007 catalog. It defies description so you’ll have to come and see it for yourself.

Sprockettes
The Sprockettes will have their fantastic 2007 Calendar for sale and they will be available for autographs!

Joy Johnson
Joy will be selling bracelets made from repurposed bike chain, sterling silver and glass beads, as well as pendants made of glass-enclosed bike imagery (vintage bicycle posters, etc…).

Sweetpea Bicycles
Natalie Ramsland is a bike builder, but for BikeCraft she traded in her torch and picked up some needles to make a bunch of awesome felted winter gloves.

Microcosm Publishing
Joe Biel will bring bike trailers full of great Microcosm Publishing merchandise including tees, stickers, zines, patches and more.

Elias Grey
Elias Grey makes messenger bags under the label of Lemolo Bags. Elias is a new vendor and has been in Portland less than a year. Let’s give him a big, BikeCraft welcome shall we?!

Justa Louise-Phillips
Justa can make just about anything so there’s really no telling what she’ll bring. She does great stencils, patches, and more. Check her out at last year’s show.

Ben Salzberg
Ben’s “beer-view” mirrors were a very hot seller at BikeCraft 2005. He uses rare bottle caps and spokes to make a very cool accessory.

Dan Kaufman
Dan Kaufman has been all over the bike scene since launching his CrankMyChain Internet TV station. His videos have captured skidding fixed-gears, Zoobombs, and more. At BikeCraft, Dan will have a special compendium DVD of his 2006 cyclocross racing coverage.

Reverend Phil
The Honorable and enigmatic Reverend Phil will grace us with his presence…and he’ll even have some DVDs of his famous bike films like “From Portland with Bike Love” for sale.

Matt Cartwright
Matt Cartwright of Cartwright Design is a metal fabricator whose work you’ve surely seen around town. He is responsible for the Bike People atop River City Bicycles near the Morrison Bridge as well as a host of other sculptures that use recycled bike parts. He’ll bring several pieces of his bike part furniture to BikeCraft.

Tiago Denczuk
Tiago’s bold and colorful painting style captures the essence of his subjects. He’s often inspired by mini-bikes and his life as a clown at the Alberta Street Clownhouse. He’ll bring a few special paintings and some of his new bicycle greeting cards.
