BikeTV does B on B and comes to local TV

I love it when Clarence Eckerson of BikeTV comes to town. The NYC resident, whose heart belongs to Portland bike fun, showed up at Breakfast on the Bridges last Friday and put together this fun and inspiring movie. It features interviews with volunteers and bike commuters who stopped for the free pastries and coffee.

Far beyond just documenting bike fun, Clarence does amazing work with his camera. He is the videographer for The Open Planning Project, a NYC-based non-profit with a mission to “build technology to enhance the role of the citizen in democratic society.” He’s currently in Portland researching an upcoming production about the history of the Mt. Hood Freeway.

Clarence also shared the great news that his Portland bike movies will finally be seen on local TV. Tune in to Portland Community Media (channel 23) on Mondays at 6PM for all the goodness.

I’d like to see that program on the Mt. Hood Freeway. I bought one of those condemned houses from the State Highway Dept. in 1980. It is fortunate that the Freeway was never built. It would have destroyed the livability in that part of Inner Southeast.

Bill,

Hey, Clarence here. Working on that piece over the next few weeks and hopefully done by end of the April.

Question: would you happen to have any photos of the condemened house that I could use in my piece? I am trying to gather any kind of information and photos and such to put in my piece. Although I talked to four great people in Portland while I was there I have little visual stuff to include thus far.
