Is it like Chicago – nominate early and nominate often? Time to start working the phones . . . 🙂

well, Dave Guettler (owner of River City) is a pretty good candidate – he’s got something like a 15+ mile commute (each way) & i see him out on the road in all kinds of weather.

I doubt he’d be too thrilled by a River City gift certificate, tho…

It seems logical that bike shop employees would not be eligible for consideration… can you imagine a competitor shop’s employee appearing in a River city ad? Hilarious, and therefore highly unlikely.

While I greatly appreciate this emphasis on bike commuting — thanks, River City! — I think it would be an even better idea for such a contest to be sponsored by an advocacy organization, with prizes from a number of bike shops, rather than by one shop for advertising purposes.
How about it, BTA?

beth, rather than see it as an awareness/commuting prize that exists for advertising purposes, think of it as advertising that exists to build awareness and promote commuting.

RCB often uses their advertising to build commuting awareness. Remember their “parent, husband, friend, neighbor. Is 2 minutes worth someone’s life?” advertisements?

And think of it this way, with RCB footing the bill for so much commuting stuff, it eases the burden on the BTA, helping them put their limited resources to other purposes.

Which reminds me, is everyone here a BTA member?
