Bike lane on N. Mississippi Ave. hill-4

After being promised over a year ago, City crews have finally installed a bike lane on the uphill portion of the N. Mississippi Ave. hill (from Graham to Cook).

What was the old lane configuration? I'm always interested in bike lanes can be added without actually widening the streets.

Mark, there used to be a center turn lane (you can make it out the old lines in this photo). That was removed. The bike lane was only added in the uphill direction since it's easy for cyclists to maintain speed on the downhill and take the lane.
