noticed this cool, wooden, DIY baby seat in the racks at my daughter's school.

That is cool. And perfect timing on your part for the post. I am in the middle of trying to figure out the best design for a seat on the back of my bakfiets. My eldest son would rather ride back there then deal with his brothers in the box and I figured great, give me something to get all creative on. Do you know what the applicable Portland laws are regarding seats on the backs of bikes (foot pegs? Back rest? Handle?)???
