biodiesel bus to the coast- $25 bring your bikes for free

hello,
I'm new to the bike forum, though I've been a daily commuter for several years now. I am posting because I am trying to generate some interest in a biodiesel bus service that would run between Portland and varying locations on the Oregon coast, most often to Cannon Beach. The bus would leave Portland at 9:30 a.m. and return the same day just after sunset, operating Saturday and Sunday only, from June to September. Please note that this service does NOT currently exist, I am just trying to figure out what the market is for these services! but if you email your interest to biodieselbeachbus@yahoo.com I will be sure to contact you when it is up and running.

I'd be interested. I've taken the Amtrak bus with my bike from Portland to Astoria and pedaled either up the coast or down the coast. I'd particularly like bringing my kids with their bikes so that they could enjoy a 30 mile pedal down the coast and then either spend the night or take the bus back from Cannon Beach.

Just so you know though - you are more money than the Amtrak - Amtrak is $17 per person plus $5 for the bicycle.

You can get information at amtrak.com.

Amy, in case you hadn't done this already, you should check in with the Motor Carrier Division at ODOT before you get too far into your planning. The state grants "authority" to specific private carriers to serve certain routes. If this route already is spoken for by another carrier, you could be SOL. The # is 503-378-6699.

The reason for yawning at this idea is that I think it is ridiculous and obviously not thought out. I also think bio-diesel is a huge joke, though that is another topic...

There are already established ways to get to the beach. Amtrak for one. Also this is a persons first post and they are marketing something. Another entrepeneur with a poorly thought out idea to make a buck. But at least it is green-washed!

I would be very interested. However it should be known that there is currently bus service btwn Portland and Tillamook.

There's also apparently an option to Newberg.
I would love to find an option to get farther south (at least Newberg) since the roads in the northern part of the Oregon Coast are not friendly.
