NEP, give this route a look - pretty direct, & for the most lower traffic:
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...nd-to-Estacada starts at E burnside/i-205 path & utilizes the Springwater out to Boring. Back roads from there to Hwy 224, then using Eagle Creek Rd. which paralllels 224 in to Estacada. You can stay on 224 if you prefer, i think the shoulder's decent. |

That route avoids the part of 224 you want to avoid (the curvy section with little to no shoulder) which is good.

I Live out in that area and I would recommend staying on 224 all the way to Estacada, the shoulder is kinda narrow on Eagle Creek Road and bikes are rare out here if you know what I mean. Also on 224 there aren't many intersections or driveways and the bike lane is really wide.

Kosmo, you're right about Eagle Creek Rd. - i've ridden it on Saturdays or Sundays, when traffic is considerably lighter, and there's still a little too much traffic going too fast for my liking.

Thanks for the advice. I made it out. The map says 27 miles, maybe my math is wrong because the map is in KM. Its actual about 38 miles. There is no shoulder on Amisigger Road, coming in from portland that was not a problem because its down hill. Going back, climbing the hill, it doesn't have a shoulder and its a drop off. I won't go take the risk of being blown off the road and down the cliff.
Does the 205 bike path go all the way to Clackamas Town Center? Thanks.

Yeah, the 205 bike path goes to CTS, were you thinking of comming out on 224? I've seen it done, it's level and you could go pretty fast, but there isn't any shoulder on the curves and some people drive like idiots there. But if you picked a light traffic time of day it would be ok.
