Just noticed the bikethere! bike map shows a small section of 84 towards Gresham that has an off street bikepath. Anyone know anything about this? Just curious, I will go explore it either way.

yeah I've seen it. I think it starts around 148th and runs next to I-84 on the south side. i think it ends up putting out at around 172nd and San Rafeal.

It ain't bad, but I think the traffic noise from I-84 makes it unpleasant. Even Marine Drive seems more calm. Jeff |

It's awful, you're squeezed in between a chain link fence and a cement wall, the noise from the freeway is overwhelming. What a waste of money.

The I 84 path forces you to suck exhaust the entire path. its worthless. its noisy and uncomfortable riding concrete forever. try riding marine drive on the north or halsey south of the interstate. they both have good bike lanes and they're just as flat.

I agree that I-84 bike path leaves a lot to be deisred, however; it has some qualities that I like:
Being isolated from the roadway, there is very little glass. The high concrete walls create a shady place to ride on hot summer days There is so little traffic on it I am not being endangered by cars. I ride the section from 122nd to 181st and and I can ride the whole thing without once crossing a lane of car traffic. If there is a bike path that I think is worse than the roads it is the I-205 path. it makes you cross every busy street and it is UGLY! |

The 84 path sucks, but it's better than nothing. With earplugs it's tolerable - you're not going to hear "on your left" over the car noise anyway. |
