Modolo Dumbo Bars ....

Does anyone ride with Modolo Dumbo Bars?

I need to get different bars for my Surley Long Haul Trucker .... I suffer from serious back injury, and need to have bars that allow for a more upright position.

I only ride a few miles a week, mostly to the store (about seven miles round trip), and work part-time a few days a month (usually about six to eight miles round trip).

I would like to give these handlebars a try, but would also like to hear from anyone who has actually used the Modolo Dumbo Bars ....

Can't say I have. Was thinking that if you made a few phone calls to some LBS's and you might be able to find a stock bike with them (or like them), and give it a test ride.

why not put some mustache bars on it? I'd think that would be more comfortable... unless you're still trying to be racy about it...

I just called the bike shop and asked them to see if they can find the Dumbo Bars. I think they would be good for me, especially because they are adjustable and would give me enough extra hight.

Sorry, my first thought when I saw a picture of the Dumbo was that someone stole yours and removed all the lights.

I also have back issues (arthritis) and need to ride in a more upright position than my road bike offered in its stock configuration. My LBS installed a steering tube extender and spacers, plus a different stem, and this brought the stock handlebars up to an acceptable height. Not sure if that would be cheaper than the dumbo bar, or not, or provide you with enough height, but it might be worth checking out.
